Lorri Suggs Car Accident, Lexington NC Obituary, Woman dies after crash with EMS vehicle

A tragic incident occurred Monday afternoon in Lexington, resulting in the loss of a woman and critical injuries to a man involved in a collision involving an EMS vehicle. According to a statement from the Lexington Police Department, the events unfolded shortly after 1 p.m. at the intersection of East Center Street and North Salisbury Street.

Initial reports indicate that a pedestrian, a 31-year-old Lexington man, was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street. Emergency responders arrived promptly and found the man in critical condition due to injuries sustained in the crash. He was immediately transported by Davidson County EMS to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Investigators noted that the pedestrian was at fault for the incident, as he failed to yield to traffic, a factor contributing to the collision. No charges have been filed against him at this stage of the investigation.

While EMS personnel were en route to the hospital with the injured man, a second tragedy occurred. At approximately 1:21 p.m., the EMS truck was involved in a collision with another vehicle on South Main Street near Prospect Drive. Responding officers from the Lexington Police Department arrived at the scene to find a devastating scene. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Lorri Suggs, age 56, of Thomasville, was pronounced dead at the scene from apparent injuries sustained in the crash.

Fortunately, Davidson County EMS staff aboard the ambulance were medically evaluated and did not suffer any major injuries. Following the crash, the injured man was transferred from the initial EMS vehicle to another ambulance for continued medical treatment and was later taken to the hospital, where he remains under care.

The Lexington Police Department’s traffic crash investigators are actively working to determine the exact cause of both collisions. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have stated that additional details, including the circumstances leading to the crash between the car and the ambulance, may be released once the investigation concludes.

This tragic sequence of events has deeply impacted the Lexington community. The loss of Ms. Suggs is a heartbreaking reminder of the suddenness with which accidents can alter lives forever. The community extends its condolences to her family, and authorities continue to seek answers as they work to piece together the events of that afternoon.
